Hope Step Japan!

We, Hope Step Japan!, are a group of volunteers who share the interests and concerns living in and around Amsterdam. Having the great east Japan Earthquake on 11 March 2011 (a.k.a. “3.11”) as our starting point, we aim to offer a platform for rethinking and learning together about the situation of these affected areas in Japan. Highlighting issues prompted by the nuclear disaster, reconstruction of the tsunami-hit areas and other related problems in post-3.11 Japan.

Since 2012 we have organised a number of study meetings, annual memorial events in March consisting presentations by specialists, presentations of our own projects and research, workshops for children, screenings, performances, exhibitions and fundraising.

We believe it’s vital for our better future not to forget “3.11” and learn from the hardship that Japan has been going through since then, while the interests and memories of the 3.11 disaster are fading over time.

At the moment we are working on an online platform where we share information with a wider audience. If you are interested in becoming part of our team, please contact us at info[@]hopestepjapan.com.
